Typography

Typography at Placed is designed to feel clear, intentional and elevated. Our system balances functional structure with editorial expression. This creates a visual language that feels both functional and expressive across every environment. We rely on typography not only for communication, but for atmosphere, flow and spatial clarity throughout the experience.

Our typefaces

Our typographic system is built around three core typefaces: Satoshi, PP Editorial New and Space Mono. Satoshi serves as the structural foundation of the interface system. It provides clarity, consistency and usability across digital environments. PP Editorial New introduces contrast and expressive presence through editorial moments, headlines and curated brand applications. Space Mono is reserved for precise data articulation and functional clarity. Together, these typefaces create a typographic language that balances structural clarity with editorial expression.

Everyday usage

Satoshi Medium and Bold serve as the foundation of our interface typography. These weights establish clarity, consistency and structure throughout the product experience. This allows curated content and visual moments to remain the primary focus. We rely on this restrained typographic system whenever utility, readability and navigation take priority over expression.

Typesetting

Typesetting at Placed is defined by contrast, restraint and spatial balance. We pair monumental editorial moments with highly controlled functional typography to create rhythm, focus and immediate understanding. Large expressive headlines should feel monumental and architectural, while supporting typography remains precise and minimal. Strong typesetting relies on spacing, hierarchy and intentional use of white space rather than excessive styling or visual noise.

Leading

Leading controls the vertical spacing between lines of text. At Placed, large display typography uses tighter leading to feel unified and architectural, while smaller functional text uses more open spacing to maintain readability and ease.

Tracking

Tracking defines the spacing between letterforms. We maintain a default tracking value of 0 across all primary typesetting. By avoiding unnecessary compression or expansion, our typography remains true to its original form while maintaining balance and consistency.

Hierarchy

Hierarchy guides movement through the experience. Placed creates hierarchy through scale, contrast and spatial restraint rather than excessive weights, colors or visual noise. Monumental headlines are paired with precise supporting text to create immediate understanding and intuitive navigation throughout the system. The stronger the contrast, the clearer the experience.

Incorrect usage

To maintain the integrity of our brand, our typographic rules are absolute. While our system provides structural flexibility, we do not compromise legibility or intention for the sake of decoration. Avoid the following applications.

Dimensional &

bespoke type

For curated moments such as campaigns, partnerships, editorials or installations, bespoke typography may be introduced alongside the core system. These moments should feel distinctly expressive while remaining separate from the functional interface typography used throughout the product experience. The goal is to create contrast without disrupting overall brand recognition. At Placed, bespoke typography is treated as a dimensional extension of the identity rather than decorative styling. Custom letterforms may be explored through materials and applications such as 3D rendering, architectural lighting, frosted glass or spatial gradients to create a stronger sense of depth and presence. Even in more expressive applications, restraint remains essential.
